2 Stones Events and the Brighton Center for the Performing Arts have teamed up to present the Brighton Blues Bash! 2 — an evening featuring metro-Detroit's finest musicians — presented by Cooper & Binkley Jewelers.
Kicking off the evening at 4 p.m. — A tribute to the late Johnnie Bassett, Detroit’s Gentleman of the Blues, with The Brothers Groove (Chris Codish, keys; Skeeto Valdez, drums; and James Simonson, bass) joined by Brett Lucas, guitar; and Keith Kaminski, saxophone.
At 5:30, guitarist Bobby Murray’s Love Letters to Detroit takes the stage with a 12-piece ensemble honoring the great Etta James, who Murray toured with for 23 years until she passed. A powerhouse lineup includes the Woodward Horns, bassist, drummer, keyboardist, two guitarists, and four vocalists to cover James’ wide range of styles.
Tickets are $30 before Sept. 13; $40 day of event. Click HERE to purchase.
The doors for this special Sunday show at the BCPA will open at 3 p.m. The evening will top off a full weekend of blues music with the Brighton Smokin Rock-N-Blues Festival on Sept. 11-12.

COMMUNITY BENEFITS
This event will include a food drive for the Livingston Hunger Council, and attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable item. Of course, they’ll also take a monetary donation — every dollar donated provides three meals locally.
Results from the 2025 Brighton Blues Bash! food drive were impressive: “It was a PERFECT event!!!,” said Cathy Wormsbacher of the LCHC, noting that $563 was donated along with 247 pounds of food. “This is incredible. Thank you again for all of your support!!”
