After nearly selling out all four Kittens & Crooners shows, we're excited to present our second live music series at the Tipping Point Theatre in downtown Northville -- Jazz @ The Point, presented by Financial Architects, Inc.
The fourth show will be Saturday, May 6 and features the Hughes/Smith Quintet.
Modern Bop from Detroit featuring Jimmy Smith-trumpet, James Hughes-saxophones, Phil Kelly-piano, Takashi Iio-bass, Nate Winn-drums. They play original tunes with purpose. Each member of the band is a full-time professional musician in the Detroit scene. Jimmy and James have been freelancing for the past 18 years, always the side...men never the leaders...until now! They were running unique, but parallel paths in the music business and found themselves on the same gigs in the fall of 2012. Both cats wanted to record their original tunes and share their music, when it dawned on them...collaborate! So they agreed to share the burden of getting something started from the ground up and within a month they were rehearsing for an album
The event features a wine tasting and appetizers from 7-7:45 p.m. and a two-set (8-9 p.m. and 9:20-10 p.m.) concert. Doors open at 7 p.m. (Due to licensing/insurance costs and to keep ticket prices the same, alcohol will not be for sale this series.)
Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by phone (248-347-0003); online HERE; or at the theatre box office (361 E. Cady Street, Northville, 48167).
TPT season ticket holders save 10 percent per show.
